BMO Financial Group today paid tribute to Hartland "Hart" M. MacDougall, who has passed away at the age of 83.

"We are deeply saddened to hear of the loss of Hart MacDougall," said Bill Downe, Chief Executive Officer, BMO Financial Group. "On behalf of everyone at BMO, I want to pay tribute to his lifetime of accomplishment in both the business and voluntary communities. Hart spent more than thirty years at BMO, culminating in holding the role of Vice Chairman in the early 1980s. He was also a Director of the bank from 1974 to 1984. His volunteerism served as a role model to future generations of bankers. He was a tireless and generous supporter of important causes, most particularly through his help in founding and working with the St. Michael's Hospital Foundation. To his family, we extend our most heartfelt condolences."
