BNY Mellon's Pete Rodriguez, Charlene Brown and Nelson Derry have been named in the 'EMpower 100 Ethnic Minority Leaders and EMpower 30 Ethnic Minority Future Leaders List' published today in The Financial Times. Launched in 2016 to celebrate the work of Black Asian Minority Ethnic (BAME) executives across the United Kingdom and United States, the newly named EMpower list also includes 30 future leaders who are making a significant contribution to ethnic inclusion across their organizations.

Pete Rodriguez came in at 24 in the 'EMPower 100 Ethnic Minority Leaders List' for his work as Chief Administrative Officer in Asset Servicing. He recently transitioned into a new role as Global Head of Strategic Initiatives for Asset Servicing. Based in Florida, Pete is a senior advisor to the African American, Latino, Asian and South East Asian Leadership Forums focused on inspiring, attracting and retaining BAME professionals across the firm.

With attention on empowerment through his participation in the Senior Leadership Council for the New York City chapter of the Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA) and the Council of Urban Professionals Catalyst for Change, Pete is a community educator committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Based in London, Charlene Brown and Nelson Derry have both been named on the 'EMpower 30 Ethnic Minority Future Leaders List.'

Coming in at number two, Charlene, Legal Counsel, has been credited for her work as an industry mentor to several BAME business and law students and for her work supporting future leaders beyond both the legal and financial services industries - in particular, for her work as Head of Ambition First and as the Founder of Honest Voice, an online platform launching in 2018 to support youth from all socio-economic backgrounds to realize their full potential. As EMEA co-chair of BNY Mellon's multicultural employee affinity group known as IMPACT, Charlene has focused on developing the leadership and technical skills of members to empower their career paths.

Nelson, Senior Program Manager in the Corporate Program Management Office, made 17 place. He has been acknowledged for his work supporting emerging diverse talent in the financial services industry through actively coaching and mentoring BAME future leaders and executives within Financial Services, as well as in his Partnerships Lead role for Ambition First. Nelson champions the attraction and retention of diverse candidates to the firm through his intersectional role spanning all employee affinity groups and human resources.

We are immensely proud of the achievements of Pete, Charlene and Nelson and invite you to learn more about our commitment to inclusive and diverse business.
