Barclays PLC : Barclays Names Jerry del Missier Chief Operating Officer

LONDON--U.K. bank and financial firm Barclays PLC (BARC.LN) said Friday it has appointed Jerry del Missier to the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer.
MAIN FACTS:
-Mr. del Missier will lead all operations and information technology activities across Barclays, including those that are part of support functions.
-Mr. del Missier takes up his new post immediately, having been Co-Chief Executive of Barclays Corporate and Investment Banking division since Oct. 1, 2010.
-Shares at 1120 GMT up 1 pence, or 0.54%, at 203.4 pence valuing the company at 24.88 billion pounds.
