High image quality, ease-of-use and a modular design: these are the three reasons why María Bastos, owner of Brazil's Cine Lúmine cinemas, chose to go digital with Barco projectors. Earlier this month, María proudly opened the doors to her digital theaters, equipped with our DP2K-10SX projectors. The opening marked a first: Cine Lúmine was the first to sign a Digital Print Fee with Quanta DGT and receive the digital equipment. "The romanticism and magic of 35mm will stay, but thanks to the new technology, we can broaden now our horizons," said María upon the opening.

Quanta DGT + Barco
As explained in previous communications, system integrator Quanta DGT has, together with global digital cinema leader Arts Alliance Media, Virtual Print Fee agreements with the Hollywood studios to fund the rollout of digital cinema across Latin America. Many Brazilian exhibitors, both large and small, choose team up with Quanta DGT and install Barco projectors.

Start of a new era
"Cine Lúmine set the tone. This is a great achievement for the small player that has survived for years with restored equipment. It's the start of a new era for regional cinema," said Claudinei Mascaro from Cine Brasil, the company that installed the projectors at Cine Lumine. Quanta DGT, as well as Barco, both highlight how proud they are to support Brazil's digitization process: "The technology upgrade is particularly important for small complexes outside the major economic hubs, as it allows them to stay alive and, more than that, have access to every single movie, thus diversifying their content. In this way, every single Brazilian can watch a movie near to their homes."
