Barco's CinemaVangelist Ted Schilowitz talks about the "Future of Movies" and how virtual reality is becoming an integral part of immersive cinema in a recent "Marketing over Coffee" podcast.

As a founding team member of RED Digital Cinema and current futurist for 20th Century Fox, Schilowitz has a unique perspective on the movie industry and ways that innovators are stepping up their game to attract audiences to cinemas in an age of increasingly sophisticated home theaters. One way is Barco Escape, a 270° panoramic theatrical experience enveloping guests in a surreal visual spectacular, from the feature presentation to alternative content and beyond.

"In the future, people won't just go to the movies, they'll go into the movies! Barco Escape is making this concept a reality, providing a fully transformational experience in which a movie is all around you, where you feel like you've been dropped into a theme park," comments Schilowitz. Ted and his colleagues at Barco are working to ensure that this fantasy premium experience is financially viable and realistic for theater owners by focusing on a retrofit strategy for existing auditoriums.
