We had to rub our eyes several times, last week, wondering what, exactly, was real and what was virtual. Year after year, the Laval Virtual trade fair astounds its visitors with increasingly immersive simulation and virtual reality solutions. Eye-catcher at this year's Barco booth, which we shared with Immersion, was our S4 compact CAVE.

Visualize. Virtualize. Immerse

As a technological partner of Laval Virtual since the beginning, we were glad to host a booth together with Immersion, the European expert in innovative, immersive and collaborative 3D technologies. The compact CAVE fitted perfectly within our booth theme: 'Visualize. Virtualize. Immerse'. In addition to the CAVE, visitors were also introduced to our brand-new, near-silent, 6,000 lumen laser phosphor projector, our ClickShare presentation system, the compact F50 120 Hz WQXGA projector, and our new LDX-8482 multi-touch display - all solutions that can help create truly immersive environments and/or speed up decisions in enterprises or research institutes.

Partner and customer booths

As Barco offers just the perfect solutions for VR-related applications, our gear was also used at partner and customer booths. OPTIS, for example, used a Barco OverView OLS LED-lit video wall and our F50 projector and lenses to demonstrate how their VR software enables industrials to review and revise designs collaboratively, locally and remotely in VR environments. Also the Laval Virtual organization made use of several of our displays and projectors, and of a customized X20 channel to visualize the show's tweets, agenda, and videos.

Big - and real - interest

Over 14,000 people - both professionals and individuals - visited Laval Virtual 2015, from 8 to 12 April. Looking back on the event, the Barco and Immersion teams were satisfied: the interest in our solutions was great and … for real!
