BARCO : launches first 4K 3D projection + Auro 3D sound combination in Greater China in Wangfujing Cineplex

Kortrijk, Belgium, 8 November 2011 - Digital cinema pioneer Barco has launched its first 3D image plus 3D sound combination in greater China, more specifically in the Wangfujing Cineplex in Chengdu, China. This is the first time that Barco has provided both audio and visual technology in the digital cinema field. With the Wangfujing Cineplex launch, Barco is now offering its customers total audio/video digital cinema solutions.

The Wangfujing Cineplex installation includes Barco's DP4K-32B ultra-bright Enhanced 4K cinema projector and the revolutionary Auro 3D 11.1 Channel Sound System to present a spectacular immersive movie experience.

Unlike today's 2D 5.1-channel surround sound systems, the Auro 3D sound system is designed along 3 axes (width, depth, and height) to present the most natural - even supernatural! - audio in 3D. Combine this exquisite sound with the DP4K-32B's ultra-bright, vibrantly colorful images, and audiences enjoy an unparalleled cinema experience. Now totally immersed in the 3D environment, viewers feel like they are actually in the film.
