During a special presentation ceremony yesterday in Las Vegas, Barco Silex won a Technology & Engineering Emmy® Award. The award, given by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, recognizes the work of Barco Silex within the framework of the Video Services Forum (VSF) on the advancement of interoperability for JPEG2000 systems.

Industry-wide recognition
With the annual Technology & Engineering Emmy® Awards, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences looks to honor technology companies and individuals whose innovation and vision have materially affected the way audiences experience television and who have set the standard for technological excellence in the industry. With industry-leading companies like Netflix, HBO and Apple among this year's award winners, Barco Silex was in excellent company.

Advancing interoperability
The Barco Silex video team played a key role in the VSF J2K Activity Group, culminating in the release of a Technical Recommendation for 'Transport of JPEG2000 broadcast profile video in MPEG-2 TS over IP'. This document aims to facilitate interoperability between equipment produced by different manufacturers.

CEO of Barco Silex, Thierry Watteyne, was proud to accept the award: "This is a landmark recognition of the competence level of our video team. But it also underlines the quality and full compliance with the VSF recommendation of Barco Silex' solutions."
