RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif., March 11, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Barco, the worldwide market share leader in digital cinema, presented its new three-screen movie format Barco Escape at the first ever 'Future of Film' Showcase at Cinequest. The annual independent film festival in San Jose, CA highlights the work of new and existing filmmakers and the film technologies that are changing the industry.

Barco Escape premiered several exciting new pieces of content at Cinequest to packed houses all three days of its showcase, including a sneak preview of its upcoming concert film with Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga. The movie, which was shot natively for the format and follows the duo behind the scenes and on stage during a performance at the Grand'place in Brussels, will be released in Barco Escape theaters this spring.

Other new content included shorts from key directors chosen by the festival, a stunning 18-minute documentary titled Escape to Burning Man, and Golden Gate, a pre-visualization of a thriller created for Barco Escape by 20th Century Fox President of Post Production Ted Gagliano.

The showcase also marked the debut of an epic adventure sports piece created for Barco Escape by Devin Graham, best known as the prolific live action filmmaker Devin Supertramp by his nearly 3 million subscribers on YouTube.

"It was fantastic to watch audiences react to Barco Escape at Cinequest and hear their comments after the screenings," said Ted Schilowitz Barco's CinemaVangelist. "The emotions in the theater ranged from excitement, pure joy, laughter and a number of 'Wow, that was amazing!' moments. A few guests were even moved to tears while the visuals surrounded them and truly brought them into the experience in a way that a single screen movie could never do. We learn so much each time we show off the Barco Escape format and seeing the packed houses at Cinequest react so strongly was a good indication that audiences do indeed want a more immersive and powerful cinema experience."

Barco Escape introduced its technology to audiences in September when it featured select scenes from director Wes Ball and 20th Century Fox's hit film The Maze Runner in the format. To learn more, visit Ready2Escape.com.
