Hong Kong, 7 December 2015 - Barco, the global leader in digital cinema projection, is proud to announce its presence at the 2015 CineAsia expo in Hong Kong, from 8 to 10 December. Among the highlights to discover at the Barco booth are Barco's groundbreaking laser projection technology, and the immersive Barco Escape experience which contribute to an unprecedented movie-going experience. At CineAsia 2015, Barco will also officially launch the first two models of its laser phosphor portfolio and demonstrate both its flagship and laser phosphor projectors.

Currently, the installation of more than 70 Barco's DP4K-L 6P flagship laser projectors has been committed worldwide, giving Barco the leading position in this important new growth segment. And now, Barco is expanding its laser projector portfolio with the first projectors of a broader laser phosphor series that includes 2K and 4K projectors.

Laser installs in Asia-Pacific

In the Asia-Pacific region, 14 systems have already been deployed. Cha Woncheon, CEO of Lotte Cinema (South Korea) - the first exhibitor in Korea to install Barco's flagship laser technology: 'We thoroughly tested Barco's DP4K-60L for more than two months and are truly convinced that Barco laser projection is the real game-changer for a premium cinema experience. What's more, they also greatly simplify our internal operations, freeing us from all lamp-related costs and maintenance.'

Laser illumination education

At this year's CineAsia, Barco will showcase their laser projection technology during a demo on Tuesday 8 December from 2:00-2:45 PM at Theater 2 (level 1). Next to this, Barco will also participate in event discussions on the subject of laser illumination and Barco experts will address installation practices and the differences between RGB laser and laser phosphor technologies.

Driven by innovation

Barco's commitment to innovation has resulted in a continuous stream of technological breakthroughs. The three-screen Barco Escape format and the AuroMax immersive cinema sound solution are excellent examples of Barco's ability to implement technological innovations in commercial applications.

The Barco Escape system has been showing on four continents around the world, with two new systems to be installed in Chinese theaters by the end of 2015. The first Barco Escape system in the Asia-Pacific region is in commercial operation at China Film Changping AEON Cineplex in Beijing. Ms. Zhang Yanqin, General Manager of the Beijing division of China Film Group cinema, explains: 'Through our long-term partnership, we are pleased to have the first Barco Escape theater operational in China, installed at Changping AEON Cineplex in Beijing, one of the largest box offices in CFG cinema.
