MISSISSAUGA, ON, October 23, 2014 - BASF recently announced the launch of new PRIAXOR® fungicide for use in canola, pulses, corn, soybeans and flax in Western Canada. PRIAXOR combines the new active ingredient XEMIUM® with the proven benefits of pyraclostrobin, the active ingredient found in HEADLINE®. Pyraclostrobin is one of the most researched active ingredients available in today's market.

Over the past ten years, BASF has conducted more than 6000 on-farm trials of pyraclostrobin across a number of different crops and products throughout North America. The proven benefits of this unique active ingredient are also found in other BASF products such as HEADLINE, TWINLINE® and INSURETM Cereal seed treatment.

" There have been more trials conducted with products containing pyraclostrobin than probably any other fungicide in the market ," said Glen Forster, Technical Market Specialist for fungicides at BASF. " Through this extensive trial and on-farm research, BASF has found it to be a highly active ingredient that has high intrinsic activity on key diseases. Research has shown that pyraclostrobin also uniquely interacts with the plant resulting in improved growth characteristics and better management of minor stress. "

Henry Desrocher, a grower from Southwestern Manitoba, saw the benefits of pyraclostrobin and did a PRIAXOR trial on his farm this year.

"In the last three years, we've had a lot of rain in the spring and a lot of disease pressure. We've been using more fungicides to slow down that pressure," said Desrocher. "In the past with HEADLINE, we've seen an advantage in stressful situations. We always see a yield advantage. That's why we used PRIAXOR this year, to reduce the disease in our canola. Our PRIAXOR trial seems to be really helping out and looks like the crop's recovering better."
