Your First BCB Upgrade: New Debit Cards

September 29, 2015 - Beginning this month, BCB Community Bank will be making a few exciting upgrades to the way we do banking, in order to better serve our customers' needs. One of the upgrade you can look forward to is a series of enhancements to your BCB Debit Card. Keep reading for key dates and important information regarding your first BCB Upgrade!

SWIPE IN STYLE & IN SAFETY. You spoke & we listened - introducing your first BCB Upgrade: A newly designred, more secure Debit Card. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Week of Monday, October 19th, 2015 - NEW DEBIT CARD, NEW NUMBER: Mail-out of first set of New Debit Cards, which will look the same as the currrent Debit Cards, but will have new numbers. This will be the first step towards upgrading you, our customer, to new, safer Debit Cards. Not able to be used until the Activation Date of Monday, October 26th, 2015.
  • Week of Monday, October 26th, 2015 - BCB will deactivate all Old Debit Cards. The first set of New Debit Cards can now be activated in any of the following ways: 1. Performing any PIN transaction anywhere, 2. Calling us at 866.823.0700 3. Logging into online banking.
  • During this process, all customers are strongly encouraged to update both their recurring charges, such as Netflix & gym membership charges, AND their stored cards on all third-party websites they use, such as Amazon.com
  • Early January 2016 - NEW YEAR, NEW DEBIT CARD: Mail-out of second set of New Debit Cards, which will include a new look & EMV chip, both of which you can read more about below.
WHAT'S SO GREAT ABOUT THIS UPGRADE, ANYWAY?
  • Raising the Limits:
    • New Debit Card limits for Personal Cards: $750.00 default limit & Business Cards: $1,000.00 default limit. Customers with custom limits will not be affected by this change.** (October 2015)
  • Enhanced Convenience:
    • You can now report a lost or stolen card by: 1. Calling our toll free Phone Banking Number (1.866.823.0700), 2. Calling our 24-hour number (1.866.536.8273) and/or 3. Using Online Banking.*** Changing your pin will also be easier - you can now do so via Phone Banking, as well as at our ATMs.** (October 2015)
  • Stronger Security (EMV Chip)*:
    • With the new EMV chip, it'll be much more difficult for someone else to use your Debit Card, in the event that your card information is stolen. (January 2016)
  • Stylish Swiping:
    • Out with the old & in with the ... blue. New colors & new logo for your New Debit Card. (January 2016)

*Debit Card EMV chips do NOT prevent fraudulent purchases on the internet, so please continue to be mindful about where you provide your Debit Card information online.

**Campus & Second Chance Debit Cards limits will remain the same ($500.00 & $250.00, respectively).

***PIN changes may not be available at all ATMs immediately following the upgrade.

****Effective with the January EMV Card issuance, the cost to replace lost, stolen, or broken Debit Cards will be $8.00.
