Befesa holds meetings with the Korean Authorities to present its project in the country

During the meeting, Befesa presented the officially signed purchase agreement with Hankook R&M. Hankook R&M is constructing a steel dust treatment plant in the city of Gyeongju in North Gyeongsang Province in eastern South Korea. The plant will use SDHL technology, developed and patented by Abengoa, which will minimize waste and maximise recycling. SDHL technology is currently the most efficient technique in the market for recycling steel dusts.

Both the president of Befesa and the commissioner expressed the agency's full support for Befesa's investment. The investment commitment document was also signed at the meeting, granting Befesa "Foreign Investor" status with all of the corresponding advantages.

Likewise, Befesa met with Mr Cho Seok, South Korea's Deputy-Minister of Economy and Knowledge. He was especially interested in Befesa's plans in South Korea, urging the company to explore the possibility of carrying out new environment-related projects in the country and with Mr Yang Sik Choi, mayor of Gyeongju.

During the meeting, Mr Yang-Sik Choi expressed the local government's interest in the project as well as the existing and future support of local institutions. The future benefits that the financial investment in the project will bring to the city of Gyeongju, as well as the service it will provide to the steel manufacturing industry in the region were all discussed, highlighting the environmental benefits of managing all the waste produced by local steelmakers in a sustainable and efficient way.

This agreement will add another country to Befesa's geographical diversification, where it will contribute its technology to solve the serious problem of managing waste, while promoting sustainable development.
