Santiago Ortiz appointed new President of ASEGRE
  • Ortiz has been General Manager of Befesa Gestión de Residuos Industriales since 2004.
  • The new President's office will rigorously promote industrial waste management, as well as combatting bad practices and unfair competition.

Santiago Ortiz has been appointed as President of the Association of Special Resources and Waste Management Companies (ASEGRE) at the organisation's latest general assembly. Ortiz has been General Manager of Befesa Gestión de Residuos Industriales since 2004.

Referring to his new role, Ortiz confirmed that his main objective as President is to improve the situation in the waste treatment and contaminated soil recovery sectors, as well as rigorously applying the legislation on waste, since a lack of control in this area has led to a significant increase in illegal practices and unfair competition in waste management. Santiago Ortiz will use the implementation of the new National Integrated Waste Plan and the review of the waste management plans of certain regional governments to demand greater control in the application of legislation by government.
