Brussels, 27 October 2011 - Starting today, users of
Samsung's "Smart TV" can enjoy a selection
of
Belgacom TV's on-demand catalog directly from
their TV, without having to be a Belgacom customer. This
new, innovative offer allows users to discover a
selection of 500 films, which will be quickly expanded.
In the framework of its strategic partnership with
Samsung, Belgacom offers all Samsung "Smart TV"
users, whether they are Belgacom customers or not, the
possibility to access a catalog of movies on demand via
the Internet, directly from their TV set. Access to the
catalog is free of charge, easy and totally
personalizable. Movies can be rented from €2.99 for
48 hours, and are paid for by credit card
(Visa/Mastercard) via the secure Ogone platform. Other
payment methods will be gradually introduced (e.g.
PingPing).
Thanks to Belgacom, owners of Samsung "Smart TV" can
discover the world of video on demand in the broadest way
possible. To this end, Belgacom will make part of
Belgacom TV's catalog of movies on demand (500 movies
initially, which will be quickly expanded) available via
the Internet, from any access provider. Movie Me is
specially intended for people who do not yet have
Belgacom TV, the aim being to show how video on demand
can make life easier for users.
Movie Me offers a unique, personalized experience,
adapted to each individual, thanks to the Jinni
recommendation engine (which is already available to
Belgacom TV customers). On movieme.be/smarttv users
can register and create their personalized profile in
order to receive movie tips as well as browning the
catalog based on mood, plot and favorite setting, or
simply to read movie reviews. It's easy, free, and
very practical. Users can also bookmark their movie
choices and find them easily in the Movie Me application
on their TV, under the "my selection" category
in the menu.
How to activate Movie Me
The Movie Me application is freely accessible via the
Samsung TV apps store ("Samsung Smart Hub"). It
is automatically installed on new "Smart TV"
sets and can be downloaded for free on existing
compatible TV sets. This means that users can discover
the catalog immediately. To benefit from a personalized
approach and to rent movies, the user must first create
an account on the website MovieMe.be/smarttv.
