On Monday 19 June 2017, St George celebrated the delivery of 78 shared ownership affordable homes at Dickens Yard with Councillor Julian Bell, the Leader of the London Borough of Ealing, and Rod Cahill, Chief Executive of Catalyst.

The new homes in Trafalgar House which will be operated by housing association Catalyst, form the latest phase of Dickens Yard - St George's mixed-use development in Ealing town centre, now in its final stages of development. St George has already delivered over 500 homes at Dickens Yard. When complete, Dickens Yard will include 700 homes and over 100,000 sq ft of new commercial floorspace, as well as a new town centre civic square. St George recently announced that British fashion retailer Jigsaw and artisan bakery GAIL's would be opening at Dickens Yard, joining the award-winning restaurant and bar Charlotte's W5. Catalyst and St George have already worked together at Dickens Yard delivering a pioneering initiative of 70 homes targeted at older people down-sizing from family social rented accommodation in the borough.

Leader of Ealing Council, Councillor Julian Bell, said:

Councillor Julian Bell, leader of Ealing Council, said: 'It is great to see more high quality, new apartments being delivered at Dickens Yard. The council is committed to creating more homes for our residents under a range of tenures. We are part-way through an ambitious housing estates regeneration programme, alongside an innovative partnership to build new houses on disused pockets of brownfield land. These new shared ownership homes from St George will complement those already delivered across the borough and add to ones already completed at Dickens Yard, and those to come over the road at Ealing Filmworks.'

Craig Carson, Managing Director of St George West London, said:

'We are very proud of what we have delivered at Dickens Yard, from high quality homes across all tenures, to public realm which we will be expanding with the addition of Elizabeth Square; a new public square for Ealing town centre.

'In less than ten years we have transformed the former council car park into a fantastic new town centre destination and I am delighted that first class retailers Jigsaw and Gail's will be joining the very popular Charlotte's W5. Watch this space for some more exciting announcements very soon.

'We could not have done this without our partnership with Ealing Council. We are really excited to be continuing this with the delivery of Ealing Filmworks where we started construction in December 2016 and will be delivering the long-awaited new Picturehouse cinema in 2019.'

Rod Cahill, Chief Executive of Catalyst said:

'We are delighted to be working with St George on these fantastic new homes at Dickens Yard, building on our earlier partnership providing homes for the active elderly. Shared ownership makes owning a home possible for those who can't afford outright purchase and we have been overwhelmed with interest in the Dickens Yard opportunity. High quality housing transforms lives; our customers are delighted to be moving in to this popular development, right in the heart of Ealing town centre.'

The 78 shared ownership homes offer first time buyers in Ealing the opportunity to buy a share of between 25% and 75% of a new property and pay a subsidised rent on the remaining share.
