bfw liegenschaften ag to change from IFRS to Swiss GAAP FER and the Board of Directors appoints Beat Frischknecht as Chief Executive Officer

Frauenfeld, 14 June 2018-Yesterday, at its Board Meeting, the Board of Directors of bfw liegenschaften ag (SIX Swiss Exchange: BLIN) has decided to change the accounting standard from IFRS to Swiss GAAP FER, effective for the current financial year as per 1 January 2018. The shares of bfw liegenschaften ag remain listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange und continue to be included to the Swiss Performance Index (SPI). Moreover, the Board of Directors unanimously appointed Beat Frischknecht, who heldthis function on an ad interim basis,as Chief Executive Officer of the Company.

The application of the IFRS accounting standard has become increasingly complex and restrictive in recent years. In contrast, Swiss GAAP FER takes a more pragmatic approach tailored to the needs of small and medium-sized companies with a national focus, such as bfw liegenschaften ag. Swiss GAAP FER has become a widely recognized and accepted accounting standard for Switzerland in recent years.

bfw liegenschaften ag will apply Swiss GAAP FER for the current financial year with effect from 1 January 2018. The company is committed to continue its high quality reports and transparency in disclosure in the upcoming annual and half-year reports. No major changes in equity, earnings and valuations are expected from this transfer.

With the publication of the results for the first half of 2018, bfw liegenschaften ag will also present the 2017 results and half-year results 2017 in accordance with Swiss GAAP FER, as if this standard had already been applied on 1 January 2017.

The shares of bfw liegenschaften ag remain listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange and continue to form part of the Swiss Performance Index (SPI).

Moreover, the Board of Directors unanimously appointed Beat Frischknecht as Chief Executive Officer of the Company; he heldthis function since March 2018 on an ad interim basis. Beat Frischknecht takes over the office of CEO on a mandatory basis. He has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of bfw liegenschaften ag since the 2017 AGM. As the founder of the Company, Beat Frischknecht has previously acted as its CEO from 2000 until the end of April 2006 and from July 2012 until the end of March 2017. As a member of the Board of Directors he has been actively involved in the acquisition and divestment processes of the real estate portfolio.
