BG Group recognised by FTSE4Good for fifteenth consecutive year

BG Group has been recognised for its long-term commitment to and investment in sustainability for 15 consecutive years on the FTSE4Good index. The index is an independent measure of a company's environmental, social and corporate governance performance.

This year BG Group has been ranked among the top three percent of energy companies in the index, a rise of one percent on last year's position. The company scored at the top of all three categories (based on 2014 information) including receiving five out of five in the areas of health and safety, human rights and community, climate change, corporate governance and risk management. The ranking reflects BG's approach of going beyond international requirements on social performance, environmental management and sustainability activities. This is part of the company's commitment to make an enduring positive contribution in our host communities and societies and to minimise our impact on the environment and climate.

Sinead Lynch, Executive Vice President, Safety and Sustainability, commented: "Operating sustainably requires continuous focus on the risks and impacts of our operations as well as evolving relationships with our many stakeholders. Our performance on FTSE4Good's ranking over 15 years recognises the significant investment and commitment BG Group has made to sustainability and our improvement in 2015 is an achievement for us all to be very proud of. Our focus remains on ensuring our operations are as safe, secure, and sustainable as is possible, and we continue to constantly challenge ourselves to improve further."
