For the second year in a row, Black Hills Corp. has been recognized as one of the Achievers 50 Most Engaged Workplaces™ in the United States. The annual award recognizes the top employers in the U.S. and Canada that display leadership and innovation in engaging their employees.

"We are honored to once again appear on this distinguished list," said David R. Emery, chairman, president and chief executive officer for Black Hills Corp. "We continually strive to be among the best employers in the United States, and while our journey toward that goal doesn't end with this award, it does suggest that we continue to make significant progress."

The Achievers 50 Most Engaged Workplaces Awards panel of judges evaluated each applicant based on eight elements of employee engagement, including communication, leadership, culture, rewards and recognition, professional and personal growth, accountability and performance, vision and values and corporate social responsibility.

"The Achievers 50 Most Engaged Workplaces™ understand that employee engagement is not just a buzz word, but that engaged employees provide businesses with a unique competitive advantage. Companies that focus on employee success have better engagement and alignment with business objectives and company values," said Achievers CEO, Patrick D. Quirk. "These companies serve as role models for other businesses to engage their own employees and build success."

The panel of 14 judges included various academics and thought leaders on employee engagement, and included representation from organizations such as the Society for Human Resource Management, Human Resources Professionals Association, and Human Capital Institute and Northern California HR Association.

Black Hills Corp. will be honored alongside other recipients at an awards gala on April 2, 2014, in San Francisco, Calif.
