February 4, 2016 - Black Hills Energy on Jan. 26 opened its new business office and construction warehouse in the Green Industrial Center at 801 14th Ave. E in Spencer, Iowa. Previously, the natural gas utility's office was in downtown Spencer on East 4th Street. The office will continue to be open to accept payments between the hours of 8 a.m. and 11:30a.m., and 12:30 p.m. and 4 p.m.

'Our new, combined office and construction warehouse is an investment in the community's future and a testament to our 77-year legacy of safe, reliable natural gas service to Spencer and the surrounding area,' said Heath Richter, supervisor of natural gas operations for the company's Spencer unit.

Before the move, Black Hills Energy worked closely with Spencer city officials to find a location that would benefit customers through more efficient operations and provide space for potential growth without additional expense.

'The City of Spencer and Black Hills Energy have had a great relationship,' said Spencer City Administrator Robert Fagen. 'Their decision to remain in Spencer solidifies their commitment to this community for a long time to come.'

Richter said Black Hills Energy continuously seeks opportunities to improve its business and its service to the customers and communities the utility serves. 'The office relocation was determined to be the best long-term, cost-effective solution for our customers and our company,' he said.
