Building on its corporate citizenship initiatives, Blackbaud (NASDAQ: BLKB), a leading global provider of software and services for nonprofits, today announced the launch of Business Doing Good, a free, practical resource focused on helping small to mid-sized businesses incorporate give-back programs into their organizations. The launch coincides with #GivingTuesday and is one of the many ways Blackbaud is participating on this international day of giving.

"In today's business world, companies everywhere are trying to show consumers and customers that they have a heart," said Rachel Hutchisson, Blackbaud's director of corporate citizenship and philanthropy. "Business Doing Good was created as an online resource to help inspire and empower businesses with limited resources to build their own give-back programs."

As an extension of Blackbaud's corporate citizenship program, Business Doing Good provides companies with the practical advice needed to turn visions into reality, to build a program from scratch and make it a part of the company culture. The site also gives advice to those seeking to pursue corporate social responsibility as a career with tips for cultivating that interest and creating a course for success.

"As a small business owner, I don't have the funding to hire people to advise me on where to give and how to give," Anastasia Dellaccio, co-owner Dolci Gelati. "Having a resource available that can help me make the right decisions in philanthropy makes my small business giving strategy that much more effective both for me and my community."

The site will feature case studies and how-to articles written by Blackbaud's corporate citizenship team and other CSR professionals, along with additional industry resources including sample policies and guides. Subject areas will include Why Giving Matters, Engaging Employees, Philanthropic Giving, Volunteerism, Operations, Disaster Response and Measuring Progress.

In addition to #GivingTuesday and Business Doing Good, other organizations are actively encouraging businesses to create charitable programs that give back. A Billion+Change encourages businesses to offer pro bono service to nonprofits, and of the businesses that have taken the pledge to serve, 50 percent are small to mid-sized firms. The Business Civic Leadership Center teaches businesses how to make a difference by inspiring leaders to share information, collaborate and make change in the world. The Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship focuses on the role of corporations in the 21st century, educating and inspiring members to give back as a part of how they do business.

"Over the years the Center has seen businesses of all shapes and sizes making a commitment to corporate citizenship and doing good," said Colleen Olphert, director of membership and member services at Carroll School of Management Center for Corporate Citizenship at Boston College. "We urge all businesses to think about corporate citizenship in an integrated manner and how it contributes to both a strong corporate culture and strong communities."

Through its corporate citizenship, Blackbaud strives to make a difference both through what it does as a company and how its employees serve as individual people, personally and professionally.
