Blom has signed a contract with The Geological Survey of Sweden (Sveriges Geologiska Undersökning) for digitization of approx. 3200 geophysical maps in A1 format.

The maps, which include approx. 2.7 million entries for geophysical measurements, are being used for exploration of mineral deposits and assessment and identification of suitable areas for extraction. The analog plans are first scanned and geo-referenced and subsequently the geophysical values are digitized. The original plans, some of which dates back to 1910s, have been transported from SGU’s office in Malå in Northern Sweden to Blom’s office in Aarhus where the scanning and project management is performed, while the geo-referencing and digitalization of the measurements are being done by Blom Romania. The project will be finished in December 2011.

Niels Verner Pedersen, Head of the Aarhus office:  “We are very pleased with the SGU assignment.  During the past decade Blom Denmark has successfully completed more than 60 conversion projects, however this is our first contract in Sweden for this type of work”.
