BMC Unveils Control-M Application Integrator and First Ever Application Exchange for Workload Automation Customers

IT leaders can now integrate any application and leverage an open community Application Hub to drive digital innovation, enhanced experiences and productivity

HOUSTON - June 2, 2015 - In competitive digital-driven enterprises, developing and managing the large volume and variety of new and legacy applications in a sustainable and cost-effective manner is a sizable challenge. BMC today announced Control-M Application Integrator, a self-service web design tool enabling any application to be easily and quickly integrated into the industry-leading Control-M Workload Automation offering, helping organizations deliver new capabilities to their business users and customers quickly as well as shrink the development-to-production cycle.

Included in the launch is a revolutionary open community "Application Hub " where customers and partners can find, share and submit their application integrations - a first for the Workload Automation (WLA) industry. With today's announcement, BMC is offering a major advantage to IT leaders: The ability to integrate any application into the Control-M solution themselves with a simple web designer, and access to a broad range of crowd-sourced application integrations to accelerate new levels of industrial efficiency and precision - all through the no-charge Control-M Application Integrator solution.

"Today's enterprises demand an ever-expanding set of applications to gain internal- and customer-facing competitive advantages" said Gur Steif, president, BMC Workload Automation. "Integrating these applications into a workload automation solution typically means custom scripting or application-provided job scheduling tools that are not enterprise-class or capable. With Control-M Application Integrator and the Application Hub, our customers can deliver the kind of digital innovation at the speed they need to change the game for their businesses."

Using the Control-M Application Integrator, customers and partners can develop integrations with the thousands of commercial applications as well as home-grown applications with 100 percent of the capability, functions and benefits of BMC-developed native interfaces. Benefits include faster application deployment by automating the creation and management of application workflows, improved service delivery performance, and accelerated business change by connecting any application process to an enterprise view.

"As end users look to embrace hybrid computing models and drive digital innovation, they need a tool that allows for easy integration and delivers service quality and performance," said Dan Twing, president and COO, Enterprise Management Associates. "BMC's Control-M Application Integrator provides a way to meet the demand of shifting computing models without sacrificing performance or control. The addition of the Application Hub enables IT operations as well as VARs to bring the power of workload automation to a broader set of applications and services. Application Integrator improves operational efficiency and reduces administrative overhead by eliminating the need for custom scripting and programming. EMA expects this solution to have broad appeal across multiple IT teams."

"Application Integrator brings the concept of 'all under one roof' to a whole new level as we can now integrate with third-party applications faster than ever - in a matter of minutes in most cases," said Robert Stinnett, senior automation analyst, CARFAX. "Thanks to the Application Hub, we're able to reduce the learning curve for new users by using community content to speed our integrations along and share some of ours to build a true global collaboration of Control-M users."

"As a longtime BMC partner, we have had the opportunity to help hundreds of clients address their Workload Automation challenges over the years. Control-M Application Integrator, like previous innovations introduced by BMC, is a true competitive differentiator that will empower partners to more readily support their clients to expand the capability of Control-M to all of their batch workloads," said Brad Scott, president and CEO of Cetan Corp. "Quite simply, we see this as yet another game changer from BMC that will further influence the marketplace and provide immediate benefit to the BMC Control-M user base."
