Boise Inc. : CEO Toeldte Named Board Chairman of American Forest & Paper Association

BOISE, Idaho - Boise Inc. (NYSE: BZ) announced today that the company's president and CEO, Alexander Toeldte, has been elected board chairman of the American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA). 
      "I am honored to be elected as chairman of the board for 2012," said Toeldte. "AF&PA member companies manufacture products integral to society and provide well-paying jobs for thousands of Americans. We are proud of the fact that our industry is one of the largest producers and users of green renewable biomass energy in the world. We have also led the way in voluntarily recycling our products. I look forward to working with my colleagues to help increase awareness of our sustainability success story."
      Mr. Toeldte has been active with the AF&PA Board of Directors since being elected in 2008, serving in leadership positions within the CEO Task Force and committee structure. A native of Cologne, Germany, Toeldte studied economics at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universitat in Freiburg, Germany and received his M.B.A. from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
      "With the election of Alexander as chairman and our 2012 board officers, AF&PA continues the good fortune of having dedicated, responsible stewards of the industry to guide our policies and planning," said AF&PA President and CEO Donna Harman.       The AF&PA Board of Directors currently consists of 29 presidents, chairmen and chief executive officers representing the broad spectrum of the forest products industry.

About Alexander Toeldte
Mr. Toeldte has served as Boise's president and chief executive officer and a director since February 2008. Mr. Toeldte joined Boise Cascade Holdings, L.L.C. in early October 2005 and served as executive vice president of that company's Paper and Packaging and Newsprint segments. Mr. Toeldte's previous experience includes: chairing a private management and consulting firm in Auckland, New Zealand; serving as executive vice president of Fonterra Co-operative Group, Ltd., and chief executive officer of Fonterra Enterprises (Fonterra, based in New Zealand, is a global dairy company); serving in various capacities with Fletcher Challenge Limited Group (formerly one of the largest companies in New Zealand with holdings in paper, forestry, building materials, and energy), including as chief executive officer of Fletcher Challenge Building and as chief executive officer of Fletcher Challenge Paper, and serving as a partner at McKinsey & Company in Toronto, Brussels, Montreal, and Stockholm.
