Bouygues Telecom announces it is testing a 4K version of its future "Miami" TV box

Bouygues Telecom, in partnership with Marvell, announces an upcoming 4K version of its "Miami" TV box. As a result, Bouygues Telecom customers will get to enjoy unequalled image quality in 4K as soon as compatible content is released in French offers.
The term 4K (or Ultra HD) refers to a video image resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, which is four times better than the definition of current HD images (1920 x 1080 pixels). Some initial 4K content is already available but the widespread use of this new standard, which is dependent on the mass adoption of compatible television sets and very-high-speed internet connections, will probably take several years.
The "Miami" TV box is based on Marvell's "ARMADA 1500 PRO" processor technology. The performance of Marvell's processors - "ARMADA 1500 PRO" and "ARMADA 1500 PRO 4K" - range from full HD to 4K. They are pin to pin compatible meaning that it is possible to produce HD boxes and then 4K boxes with the least amount of technical impacts.
Thanks to the performances of these full HD and 4K processors, Bouygues Telecom will be able to improve the experience and the services available to its customers even further.

At the core of Bouygues Telecom's 4K version "Miami" TV box is the SoC (System On Chip) ARMADA 1500 PRO 4K along with the video enhancement processor Qdeo®, capable of supporting ULTRA HD content, a powerful ARM Quad Core 12K DMIPS processor, a sophisticated security solution that protects content, and a latest-generation 3D graphic multi-core processor. The ARMADA 1500 PRO 4K platform also includes an Avastar® 88W8897 component by Marvell (802.11ac

2x2 WiFi + Bluetooth) for optimised wireless connectivity for video transmission. This platform has been designed to offer a highly immersive experience in the living room and on several different screens.
