Brill, the international scholarly publisher, launches its new broad open access journal in the field of biology.

Following an earlier announcement Brill is now proud to open Brill Open Biology - An International Journal for submissions. Brill Open Biology is meant to be a broad dedicated publication platform for papers from all branches in the field of biology. The scope of the journal includes areas like developmental biology, human biology, behaviour, biodiversity and biogeography, conservation biology, ecology & the environment, history of biology, palaeobiology, physiology including neuroscience, plant and animal structure, and systematics & evolution. Papers on applied science or clinical medicine are only accepted if they are of interest also for basic research.

With his team of section editors, Editor-in-Chief  Michael Schmitt, of the University of Greifswald, Germany, is aiming for the highest scholarly standards. Submitted papers are subject to strict double-blind peer review and accepted only if methodologically sound and relevant. Upon acceptance articles will be published within four to six weeks. Critical supplementary author materials like research data, audio, and video can be added at no extra costs. The standard license is CC-BY. For 2014 and 2015 the Article Publication Charge is set at a moderate EUR 495 / USD 655.
