Brill, the international scholarly publisher, announces the intent to take over Editions Rodopi, Amsterdam.

Brill and Rodopi have come to an agreement about the intent to take over all shares of Editions Rodopi B.V., Amsterdam. The acquisition includes internationally highly esteemed book series and journals in fields such as history, philosophy, theology, social sciences, linguistics, literature, and cultural studies. In total, the publishing list comprises of 3,000 book titles, growing by 130 new titles each year. The annual turnover of the list is about € 1 million, and the takeover is expected to have a positive effect on Brill's earnings per share. The acquisition is planned to come into effect as per 1 January 2014. The final agreement is contingent upon a positive outcome of the due diligence procedure. The shareholders of Rodopi are being represented by EY Transaction Advisory Services.
