Bull and Pradeo extend the native security of the Hoox smartphone to Android applications

Paris, April  8, 2014 -

Bull, through its subsidiary Time Reversal Communications, and specialist French software publisher Pradeo have signed a partnership agreement that gives users of the HooxTM m2 smartphone access to thousands of Android apps, while maintaining total control over their security.

Through the partnership, Bull is further strengthening the protection it gives to Hoox smartphone users. All voice and data communications on the Hoox m2 are already encrypted, and its physical ports are protected. Now the smartphone features native security for both commercial Android apps and the specific business applications developed by customers.

Every organization can now have its apps audited on the Bull portal, thanks to the security analysis functions from Pradeo. They will then be available for download by Hoox m2 users. Once they have been certified, the apps are added to the portal, from where they can be downloaded by Hoox m2 users, in line with their corporate security policy.

The Hoox smartphone provides end-to-end security, with biometric or code-based authentication and encryption of voice calls, texts, emails and all data stored or exchanged via the phone.

Pradeo's Trust RevealingTM solution carries out a comprehensive security audit for a given mobile application. It reveals any actions performed by the app without its users' knowledge, such as the automatically sending of text messages or calls, connections to suspicious servers, gathering of calendar, contacts or other data, phone tapping, geo-location...

The combination of Hoox m2 from Bull and the Trust Revealing solution from Pradeo means that, for the first time, the sphere of trust around Hoox m2 has been extended to downloaded applications. So user organizations have the widest choice of applications they can authorize for use on their Hoox m2 phones, without compromising their security.

Philippe Duluc, Executive VP of Bull's Security Division said: "With Hoox, we are offering a highly secure, professional smartphone that is perfectly suited for everyday use. By combining Bull's security expertise with Pradeo solutions, we can offer Hoox m2 users access to a wide range of Android apps, while continuing to guarantee them even higher levels of security."

According to Clément Saad, Chairman and CEO of Pradeo: "The aim of this partnership is to ensure that users benefit from the complementary nature of our technology and that of Bull, to extend the protection offered by Hoox to mobile applications whose use is inextricably linked with smartphones."

Developed by Time Reversal Communications, a Bull Group company, Hoox m2 is a natively secure smartphone designed for business use, which has been available to buy since January 2014.

As an IT security solutions publisher, Pradeo specializes in the protection and management of mobile apps for smartphones and tablets, and the behavioral analysis of mobile applications with its analysis engine, Trust Revealing.
