2012) established by TAPA (Transported Asset Protection
Association). The recipient of the certificate is AFC
Worldwide Express, Inc. (d/b/a R+L Global Logistics), which
received Level 1, the highest level achievable under the
new standard.
"The Certification brings independent validation at a
global level to AFC's policies, procedures, and practices
for a dedicated fleet of highly trained personnel and state
of the art equipment specifically designed for the handling
and transport of High Value-High Risk commodities via FTL,"
stated Steve Thornton, President, AFC Worldwide Express,
Inc. d/b/a R+L Global Logistics.
TAPA is an association representing shippers, carriers,
forwarders, insurers, and security professionals who deal
with the transportation of high value theft targeted
assets, and has established programs that
protect these products from theft at all points
within the supply chain. TAPA-recognized standards have
become the worldwide benchmark for guidelines and practices
involving the security of facilities and freight, and both
government agencies and private organizations include
TAPA-endorsed standards in the development of their
security initiatives.
The Trucking Security Requirement (TSR 2012) was
established specifically to address the safe and secure
transportation of high value theft targeted assets by
highway. It specifies the minimum acceptable standards for
security throughout the supply chain utilizing trucking and
associated operations, and outlines the process to achieve
these requirements. TSR certification can be achieved only
through an audit by a TAPA-authorized provider such as
Bureau Veritas Certification.
"Bureau Veritas is proud to be the first certification body
in the world to issue a certificate to the new TAPA TSR
standard. This demonstrates our commitment to being at the
forefront of supporting new best-in-practice transportation
security standards," stated Jorge Hercules, Vice President,
Bureau Veritas Certification North America.
