Burkhalter Group to buy Thun-based Bieri Elektrotechnik AG

Burkhalter Group is to acquire Bieri Elektrotechnik AG based near Thun (in the canton of Bern). The specialist in switchgear assemblies will expand the range of services offered by the leading one-stop shop for electrical engineering in and around buildings, consolidating the Group's presence in the Bernese Oberland region.

The Burkhalter Group is to purchase Bieri Elektrotechnik AG in Uetendorf on 9 January 2017. The company builds switchgear assemblies and has been operating in the electrical market since 1989. Its products range from installation distributors for private households and large-scale system assemblies with measuring fields for commercial and industrial use through to control cabinets for building automation and measuring and control technology applications.

Bieri Elektrotechnik AG has 20 employees and generates around CHF 5.5 million in annual sales. The company's Executive Board will not be affected when it joins the Burkhalter Group and Bieri Elektrotechnik AG will continue to operate autonomously and under its own name.

Stronger presence in the Bernese Oberland

To date, the Burkhalter Group has been represented in the Bernese Oberland by Elektro Hunziker AG in Thun, Elektrohuus von Allmen AG in Gstaad and Schild Elektro AG in Brienz and is consolidating its local presence with this acquisition.

Bieri Elektrotechnik AG is the Burkhalter Group's 19th acquisition since the company went public in June 2008. It remains a part of the Group's strategy to achieve inorganic growth via the targeted purchase of other Swiss electrical engineering companies.
