Cable and Wireless Communications Plc : Directorate Change

DIRECTORATE CHANGE

Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC) today announces that Tim Pennington, Chief Financial Officer, will be leaving the Company, and it has commenced a global search for his successor.

Tim will be taking up a position as Chief Financial Officer in London with another company, to be announced shortly.

He will step down from the CWC Board of Directors with effect from 11 February 2014, but will remain available to the business until early in June, after the Company's year-end preliminary final results.

Phil Bentley, Chief Executive of CWC, commented:

"Tim has played a vital role in the successful transformation of CWC since our demerger in 2010. He has reshaped the group to its current focus on the Caribbean and Latin America.  We have now established our new operating hub in Miami, Florida and we will be recruiting a new CFO who will be based there. We are pleased that Tim has been able to secure a new challenge, and wish him every success."

Tim Pennington, outgoing CFO of CWC, commented:

"I have had a tremendous five and a half years at Cable & Wireless and CWC, during which we have reshaped the business. I am confident that the strategy the Company is now pursuing will deliver success, and I wish Phil and the team the very best for the future."

·     As a board member, Tim Pennington's remuneration arrangements relating to this year will be fully disclosed in the 2013-14 Annual Report and Accounts. In summary, he will be paid his base salary and benefits during his notice period. At the date of departure all unvested long-term incentive awards will lapse in accordance with the rules of the scheme

·     Tim has been with Cable & Wireless since September 2008, first as Group Finance Director of Cable & Wireless plc and, since demerger in 2010, as Chief Financial Officer of Cable & Wireless Communications Plc.
