4 April 2013 CWC IMPROVES BROADBAND PERFORMANCE IN DOMINICA

Cable & Wireless Communications, which trades in Dominica as LIME, has contributed to improving the performance of internet services in the country by working to establish a local Internet Exchange Point (IXP).
LIME is the leading provider of broadband on Dominica, which has a population of c. 70,000 people and internet penetration of around 11% of the population.
Dominica is the third country in the Caribbean to establish an IXP. It will allow the country's internet traffic to be exchanged between local internet service providers (ISPs) without needing to go off-island.
The Dominica National Internet Exchange Point (DANIX) will improve the speed at which islanders can access Dominican web sites, send emails and download locally-based content on popular sites like You Tube.
DANIX was created by a working party that included the country's three ISPs, Dominica's
telecoms regulator and a technical adviser called Packet Clearing House.
