CAE Healthcare expands partnership with Université de Montréal's Faculty of Medicine healthcare simulation training centre

Montreal, Canada, December 2, 2014 - CAE Healthcare announced today a five-year expansion of its partnership with Université de Montréal's Faculty of Medicine  healthcare simulation training centre, which is called the Centre d'apprentissage des attitudes et habiletés cliniques (CAAHC). CAE will continue to operate the training centre as well as develop technology, educational tools and programs related to medical simulation.

Under the agreement, CAE Healthcare will continue to provide training centre operations services and instructors. CAE Healthcare and CAAHC will continue to deliver structured healthcare educational programs to the Faculty of Medicine's students, to offer coursessuch as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) to the community of practice and create innovative medical simulation solutions. The healthcare simulation training centre will serve as a research laboratory to improve patient safety.

"We are pleased to partner with CAAHC, a centre that has already given substantive results as we train more than 1,000 students at the centre every month," said Dr. Robert Amyot, President of CAE Healthcare. "Our partnership with Université de Montréal's Faculty of Medicine allows us to transfer our expertise in training from the aviation domain to the healthcare domain. Our work at the CAAHC allows us to develop and apply methods of simulation training that help professionals to learn and adapt within a rapidly changing healthcare environment."

"The Université de Montréal's Faculty of Medicine is proud of the work done at the CAAHC simulation centre. Our partnership with CAE and its expertise in simulation have enabled us to refine our training tools in order to better prepare our medicine students to their future reality as healthcare professionals in Quebec. We want to continue providing our future doctors with this invaluable experience,'' said Hélène Boisjoly, Dean of Medicine at Université de Montréal.

CAE Healthcare and the CAAHC first entered into a partnership in 2009. They received accreditation from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), and collaboratively developed a simulation-based medical school curriculum to meet accreditation standards and objectives.
