Capella Business Leader Award Winners Announced

In Collaboration With The Wall Street Journal, Award recipients will travel to NYC For A Tour & Informational Sessions at WSJ

MINNEAPOLIS, December 4, 2015 - Capella University is excited to announce the winners of the 2015 Capella Business Leader Award. The winners of this award are enrolled in Capella's business programs, demonstrate academic excellence and are true examples of the important qualities needed in today's top business leaders.

The three winners of the 2015 Capella Business Leader Award will travel to New York City in December to visit The Wall Street Journal headquarters, meet with Dow Jones Talent Development leaders. Winners will end their day at NASDAQ for a closing bell celebration.

The winners of the 2015 Capella Business Leader Award are:

  • Batina Smith of Orange Park, Florida, BS in Business student with a Human Resource Management specialization, employed at Henry Schein, Inc.
  • Jennifer Meyer of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, MBA in Health Care Management student, employed at UnitedHealth Group
  • Dana Stewart of Cullman, Alabama, PhD in Business student with a Finance specialization, employed at Defense Acquisition University

'Capella coursework has been instrumental in honing my strategic leadership capabilities as well as my business and financial acumen. It has strengthened my self-confidence, my practitioner scholar ability, enhanced my critical thinking capability and ability to drive meaningful and transformative strategies and solutions,' said Meyer.

In order to be considered for this award, students must be enrolled in a business degree program at the undergraduate, master's, or doctoral level, have successfully completed 36 credits at the undergraduate, 12 credits at the master's or 36 credits at the doctoral level, demonstrated academic excellence as determined by the GPA: 3.0 for undergraduate students; 3.5 for master's and doctoral students, and maintain satisfactory academic progress.
