Capital & Counties Properties PLC ('Capco') is delighted to announce that the iconic rainproof brand K-Way has agreed terms to occupy a 1,300 sq ft unit in Henrietta Street, Covent Garden.

The flagship will be the only standalone store in the UK, opening in May this year. The store will launch with the Spring/Summer '17 collection, predominantly stocking menswear, with a smaller collection of colourful women's and children's clothing.

The brand is the latest to join Henrietta Street, which Capco has repositioned to include a mix of casual retail, including Oliver Sweeney and Fred Perry, as well as standout dining from the much acclaimed Frenchie, and the highly anticipated Henrietta Hotel restaurant from Experimental Group and Michelin star chef Oliver Dabbous.

About K-Way:

Paris, 1965. A rainy day….

Leon-Claude Duhamel watches as people dart through the Paris streets, striving with very little success to stay dry. After observing the needs of his peers, he created a simple, unisex jacket from nylon with a pocket in front. The pocket, while convenient for keeping keys and wallets dry, also allowed the jacket to tuck into itself. Duhamel capitalized on this functionality by adding an elastic band to the pocket, allowing the packed jacket to be worn around the waist.

He called the jacket 'En cas', French for 'in case', simultaneously alluding to the perpetual chance of rain, as well as its self-stowing pocket. 'En cas' soon evolved to 'En-K', a nickname which was further modified to appeal to a wider, international audience. 'K-Way' sounded distinctly American -- perfect for a sporty jacket that maximized freedom and mobility. And phonetically, it was virtually universally pronounceable.

Now, over 50 years later...

K-Way, quite literally, is a modern icon. Born from a small, simple idea, the packable jacket didn't just solve a problem, it opened doors. Representative of freedom and flexibility, K-Way jackets let you live your life and say 'yes' to adventure, no matter the weather.
