Capital One launches "Everyday Money Boston" campaign with renowned photographer Jesse Burke to get Bostonian's talking about their relationship with money

MCLEAN, Virginia. (September 21, 2015) - When it comes to managing money, everyone has a different story and most are reluctant to talk about it. Capital One launched "Everyday Money Boston" to get Bostonians talking about their habits on spending and saving in an effort to help get them on a path to financial success.

As part of this effort, Capital One enlisted Boston-based photographer, Jesse Burke, to seek out city residents willing to share honest conversations about how they manage their 'everyday money' - that pool of funds available after priority items like bills are taken care of.

"Talking about your finances is one of those topics we're taught not to speak about with others," said Burke. "But it's important those conversations take place - being open about your everyday money can keep you on a better track with your own financial goals. That's why I'm delighted to team with Capital One to provoke these conversations with members of the Boston community."

Capital One, which has four Café locations and a network of 900 ATM's in Boston, has launchedEverydayMoneyBoston.com, a unique Tumblr site that highlights authentic stories about Bostonians and their everyday money. Tapping into his passion for photographing real subjects, Burke engaged with individuals around the Boston community to capture their photos and stories about how they think about money.

"Through the 'Everyday Money Boston' effort, our hope is to inspire a dialogue about how Bostonians spend, save and make the most of their hard-earned everyday money," added Dean. "It has been eye-opening to uncover the specific behaviors and relationships, depicted in the anecdotes and portraits Jesse captured. By fostering these conversations, we hope to encourage Bostonians to celebrate fiscal well-being and seek a path for financial success."

Capital One will host "Bostonians Behind the Lens," a free event during Boston's ArtWeek 2015, a 10-day festival that makes the arts - including photography - more accessible to Bostonians. The event will feature the photos and stories captured in this effort.
