Capital One Financial : Game 4 Caps Win Through the Eyes of a DC Instagrammer

As excitement and support for the Capitals grows, fans everywhere are enjoying each game like never before and anticipating the next. We partnered with local DC food and lifestyle Instagrammer Justin Schuble of DC Food Porn to get his perspective on the Capitals' wins and his experience at game 4. As someone born and raised in the DMV and a longtime fan of the Washington Capitals, I was beyond excited to see the Caps make it this far in the playoffs for the first time in 20 years. I am 23 years old, so I have never had the chance to partake in the excitement firsthand. Game 4 was scheduled for Monday, June 4^that the Capital One Arena in DC, and I knew I needed to be there.

I arrived in Chinatown on Monday to a sea of red jerseys. The game was still 2 hours away, but DC was already anxiously awaiting. I could feel the energy of the city building in anticipation. People were laughing, eating, playing music and celebrating. A lot of these people didn't have tickets but planned on watching the game outside the arena on the big screen.

I made my way through the crowd and headed for the Capital One VIP Cardholder Entrance, which opened at 6:15pm. I was inside within a matter of minutes, leaving plenty of time before 8pm, when the game was set to start.

I grabbed a pretzel and bag of popcorn, because what's a food blogger without some food in his hands, and headed into the stands to watch the players warm up. The arena was quiet and practically empty, with red and white towels reading 'WE BELIEVE IN­­­­ ALL CAPS' draped over each seat. I made my way down the steps and watched as the players entered the perfectly smooth ice. I have been going to Caps games since I was a kid, but I have never arrived early enough to experience this moment.

After getting my fill, I decided to grab some food and find my seats. Capital One Cardholders get a 10% discount on food at the arena, so I happily flashed my card before paying for my Pulled Pork sandwich and made my way to Section 106, where I would be sitting.

The seats were incredible. I was directly behind the net, just a few rows back, giving me the perfect view of the game. As I took a seat, people started to arrive and the stark white room was instantly red as far as the eye could see. The energy in the room was electrifying.

The Caps played a great game, winning the game 6 goals to 2. As I exited the arena, I walked out to a massive crowd of fans on the museum steps, cheering, hugging and smiling with excitement. It was incredible to witness the effect of the win on the DC community as a whole, not just on those who had been inside the arena. I left feeling a sense of pride and was happy to #RockTheRed with my city.
