Earnings Reviewed

During the quarter ended September 30, 2017, CapStar's total interest income rose to $13.52 million from $11.88 million in Q3 FY16. The Company's net interest income, after provision for loan losses, came in at $11.04 million for the reported quarter compared to $8.49 million in the year ago corresponding quarter.

The Company's total non-interest income also increased to $3.37 million in Q3 FY17 from $3.19 million in the previous year's comparable quarter. Meanwhile, the Company's non-interest expenses fell to $8.48 million in Q3 FY17 from $8.53 million in Q3 FY16.

The Bank Holding Company reported net income of $4.42 million, or $0.35 per diluted common share, in Q3 FY17 versus $2.11 million, or $0.20 per diluted common share, in Q3 FY16. Meanwhile, Wall Street had expected the Company to report net income of $0.23 per diluted share.

Interest-bearing deposits were $841.49 million as on September 30, 2017, compared to $944.59 million recorded as on September 30, 2016. Meanwhile, average total deposits were down by 3.3% to $1.09 billion in Q3 FY17 from $1.13 billion in the year ago comparable quarter.

As on September 30, 2017, the Bank's non-performing assets were $3.17 million, or 0.24% of total assets, compared to $4.12 million, or 0.31% of total assets, as on September 30, 2016. Furthermore, the Company made net recoveries of $1.86 million, or 0.75% of average loans, during Q3 FY17 versus net charge-offs of $11.23 million, or 4.38% of average loans, in Q3 FY16.

As on September 30, 2017, CapStar's common equity tier 1 capital ratio was 10.58% versus 10.75% as on September 30, 2016. The Company's tier 1 risk based capital ratio was 11.28% as on September 30, 2017, compared to 11.46% as on September 30, 2016. The total risk-based capital ratio was 12.42% at the end of the reported quarter versus 12.45% at the close of the last year's comparable quarter. Furthermore, the leverage capital ratio stood at 10.36% as on September 30, 2017, compared to 10.47% as on September 30, 2016.
