From 2010 to 2015, the Cambodia Agricultural Value Chain Program (CAVAC) constructed 20 irrigation schemes that now deliver year-round water to over 19,000 households. Access to irrigation can enable an annual increase in rice production of over 200,000 tonnes, valued at US$43 million a year.

This is just one of CAVAC's achievements detailed in the recently published Achievements and Lessons Learned and infographic.

CAVAC was a 5.75 year AU$45.6 million Australian Government initiative which aimed to improve farmers' incomes by increasing the value of agricultural production. CAVAC focused on the system and food production in three provinces: Kampot, Kampong Thom and Takeo.

Cardno was responsible for all financial management, logistical and administrative support required by the Program and managed procurement and grants administration for the Agribusiness Development, Water Management and Business Enabling Environment components.

Following the successful implementation of CAVAC, Cardno continues to manage the next phase of this project.
