Carillion celebrates double success at Ministry of Defence Sanctuary awards
Carillion is celebrating its success in the prestigious Ministry of Defence Sanctuary Awards after winning two top awards.

16th October 2014

A CarillionAmey joint venture was named Sustainable Business of the Year and was the winner in the Energy category. Both awards were in recognition of its work on the Regional Prime Contract (RPC) Central to help the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) to reduce its energy usage, which in turn cut costs and carbon emissions.

In addition, CarillionAmey was the runner-up in the Sustainability category.

The Ministry of Defence Sanctuary Awards recognise and encourage group and individual efforts that benefit sustainable development, wildlife, archaeology, environmental improvement or community awareness of conservation on or within land and property that the MOD owns or uses in the UK or overseas.

The winning team was praised for delivering energy efficiency projects across RPC to reduce carbon emissions on the estate. This was achieved by rolling out a mix of seven key technologies such as building management systems, boiler optimisations and LED lighting across multiple sites.

As a result, savings of £11.6m and 94 738tCO2 have already been achieved across the RPC contract.

Richard Lumby, Managing Director of Carillion Defence said: "The Sanctuary Awards have a long tradition of recognising outstanding contributions to sustainability and the environment on the Defence Estate. For CarillionAmey to receive awards reflects the commitment both organisations have towards innovating in sustainable solutions for the MOD."
