A helping hand in stores during the end-of-year festive period.

The way it works is very simple: employees from Carrefour's head offices are asked to lend a helping hand out in the field and provide support for teams in stores.
The festive period is a very busy time: employees working at all counters are mobilised. Spending time in stores is an opportunity for employees to share different experiences. It's an opportunity for them to find out what life is really like working on the shop floor.

"I was quickly able to make myself useful, providing customers with advice in the wine section"

For two days in Romania, 174 employees from the Bucharest offices worked side-by-side in Carrefour hypermarkets and supermarkets.

And in Belgium as well, head office employees joined together with employees on the shop floor to lend a helping hand. More than 130 people in both Flanders and Wallonia provided the troops out in the field with reinforcements.

"I got a very warm welcome from our store employees - and I'd like to thank them!"

Carrefour France and the group ran this campaign from 15 December to 31 January in Carrefour Markets and Carrefour hypermarkets. More than 200 people from the group's head offices were involved, making themselves available in stores to provide support during the festive period and the start of the clothing sales.

"I put cakes and pastries out on the shelves, labelled the Yule logs and even decorated chocolate cakes!"

The Group also invited its employees in Poland and Spain to give a helping hand to their colleagues out in the stores during the festive period. The campaign will also be run during Easter.

"Something we should definitely repeat!"

The experiment has been extremely positive. Each person was able to take advantage of other people's expertise to learn, find out more and gain a better understanding of their colleagues - and so be useful during this busy period of the year!
