The finals of the 2016 'Get Up and Do your Thing' competition were held on Wednesday 4 May at the Elysée Biarritz conference centre in Paris. After a day of presentations and discussions, the panel - presided over by Jamel Debbouze and Eric Bourgeois, Executive Director of Carrefour Hypermarkets France - voted 'A Feature Job' winner in the Artistic Project category and 'True Spirit' winner in the Business Creation category

Mathis Joubert, winner in the artistic project category with 'A Future Job'
Mathis Joubert, a talented young 18-year-old dancer from Touraine is completely self-taught and has already won numerous scholarships and prizes - including second prize in the 2016 solo contemporary Europe competition. Now, thanks to Carrefour and the €20,000 prize money from the Get Up and Do Your Thing competition, Mathis' dream will come true: he will be able to enrol at the prestigious Alvin Ailey dance school in New York where so many famous artists have trained. Once his training is complete, Mathis Joubert intends to return to France and set up his own dance company, fusing the worlds of classical dance and hip-hop.

'True Spirit', winner in the business creation category
Aurore, Hugo and Luv are three young wine-growing and new technologies enthusiasts who are currently studying in Aquitaine and the Ile de France regions. To help wine-growers check their production faster and less expensively, 'True Spirit' has developed a portable device for monitoring the evolution of wine in real time. The €20,000 that the team has just won will be used to take their research further and build a prototype.

The 2016 'Get up and do your thing' campaign proves tremendously successful
222 projects, of which 140 professional and 82 artistic, selected by 115 stores, 42,000 votes on the web platform, and €160,000 of prize-money distributed over 20 winning projects: the 2016 'Get up and do your thing' campaign has proved highly successful and has secured the massive support of stores for their candidates throughout France. Proof once again of just how committed Carrefour is to helping young entrepreneurs.
