A new Sigurec Public sorting station was inaugurated in Floresti on Tuesday 20 June, together with an intelligent selective sorting system inside the shopping arcade, Siguriec In. Floresti is leading the way in waste management in Romania, implementing every system available from this specialist selective sorting company. This project, the first of its kind in the country, is the result of a partnership between Green Group, which manages the project, and Carrefour.

This waste collection initiative started in Bucharest, Romania in 2014. The number of stations has grown steadily since then, and a variety of different collection formats have been introduced. The aim is to show that selective sorting is within reach of all. Moreover, the stations give their best 'customers' vouchers to be redeemed in Carrefour stores. And if they are keen to extend this sustainable development initiative, they can even donate this sum to an NGO. All the waste collected is then handed over to partners of the project, to be transformed into other products, depending on their nature.
Over the past four years, the 21 Siguriec stations located in the vicinity of Carrefour stores have collected:
- Over 16 million units of plastic and aluminium cans.
- More than 4,500 tonnes of electronic / electrical waste and paper.

There are now five Sigurec selective sorting solutions, centralised in Floresti:
- Sigurec Prime: Recycling stations in Carrefour hypermarket car parks, specifically at Cluj.
- Sigurec City: Stations collecting packaging waste and electrical / electronic equipment, giving vouchers of various values, depending on the amount of waste being recycled.
- Sigurec bags: Selective sorting bags for different categories of waste are bringing this initiative into the home, making it easier to transport waste and raising the profile of collection stations.
- Sigurec Publique: Sorting stations in public areas.
- Sigurec In: Waste collection stations in supermarket car parks, smaller than the Prime solution in use at hypermarkets.

All these stations also recover used domestic oils for transformation into biodiesel. Given that one litre of oil can pollute up to one million litres of water, this green initiative is very important and is aligned with Carrefour's CSR principles. This initiative operates in conjunction with a reward system, which not only gives users vouchers but also offers monthly competitions with prizes to be won.
