Carrefour's second hackathon on 19, 20 and 21 May. Two key themes were examined during this 3-day event: improving the in-store customer experience and developing tools designed to showcase local producers. The 5 teams that were selected at the end of the event will spend six weeks incubating the projects that they came up with at Tech2Grow

Of the 24 participating teams made up of start-ups, developers, data scientists, designers and other innovators, five were selected to spend six weeks incubating their projects and further developing the concepts which the panel found most interesting. The project selection criteria were based on the maturity of the proposals, the business model, the algorithm, the code and the innovation.
Throughout the incubation period, which will involve mentoring, the teams will be supported by Carrefour experts specialised in data, e-commerce, digital marketing, information systems and the customer experience.

Tech2Grow was attended by 108 people, rubbing shoulders with prestigious partners such as Waze and Microsoft. Carrefour strongly believes that this exercise identifies both external and internal talent, and so opened up this second hackathon to its employees. Carrefour therefore fielded 2 teams, mostly made up of developers.
When this incubation period ends on 7 July, the five finalist teams will share a €10,000 grant.

By holding this second Hackathon, Carrefour is once again asserting its commitment to open innovation, showcasing two of the aims associated with its business: overhauling the in-store customer experience, and strengthening ties with local producers.
