The Philippines' largest national flag carrier, Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB) rolls out a free electronic guidebook to Cebu, as part of its continued efforts to promote tourism within and to the Philippines.

"A Guide to Cebu 2013" is an electronic guidebook containing the most comprehensive guide to the province of Cebu. It contains a listing of all tourism and heritage sites, useful contacts, and Department of Tourism-accredited establishments, including tour operators, vehicle rental companies and even tour guides.

Initiated by Cebu-based journalism start-up InnoPub Media and Smart Communications, Inc., it comes in two versions: one for the Kindle and another for iPhones, iPads, Android devices and all other smartphone, tablet and e-reader brands.

"With direct flights to Cebu from 20 domestic and 6 international destinations, Cebu Pacific recognizes its roots and heartily supports and shares this comprehensive guide to the province of Cebu. Aimed at helping a lot of tourists plan their itineraries, this e-guidebook is a perfect example of the public and private sectors working together to promote travel to the Philippines," said CEB VP for Marketing and Distribution Candice Iyog.

Tourists can download the e-books from CEB's social networking sites on Facebook (www.facebook.com/CebuPacificAir) and Twitter (@cebupacificair). They can also scan special brochures and posters available on CEB's international and domestic travel agency partners and ticket offices.

To download via phone scanning, travellers must have Internet access and a quick response (QR) code scanner, which is a downloadable application.

Apart from the e-guidebooks, special markers containing QR codes can also be found on heritage and tourism sites in Cebu. Once the QR codes are scanned, users can get information about that particular attraction.

"Promotion of tourism using digital technologies is increasingly growing. With Cebu Pacific also supporting this initiative, we're excited to see this further grow not just in Cebu but all over the Philippines," said Ramon Isberto, Public Affairs Group Head, Smart Communications, Inc.

The e-guidebook is set to feature other provinces in the Philippines, with Iloilo being next in the pipeline.

CEB operates the most extensive network in the Philippines with 32 domestic destinations and hubs in Manila, Cebu, Clark, Iloilo, Kalibo and Davao. It offers 21 international destinations, namely Bangkok, Bali, Beijing, Brunei, Busan, Dubai, Guangzhou, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Hong Kong, Incheon (Seoul), Jakarta, Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur, Macau, Osaka, Shanghai, Siem Reap, Singapore, Taipei and Xiamen.

For bookings and inquiries, guests can go to www.cebupacificair.com, or call the reservation hotlines (02) 7020-888 or (032) 230-8888. The latest seat sales and promos can also be found on CEB's official Twitter and Facebook pages.
