Job Description Overview:
The Director of HR will report to the SVP of Human Resources and will be supporting the Corporate Staffs (finance, supply chain, procurement, business development, corporate affairs, legal, fuels, information technology). Working with the executive team and the HR business partners, this role is responsible for assessing and delivering global HR needs to ensure achievement of strategic and operational business goals.

This role will be responsible for leading the HR team supporting the Corporate Functions. In this role the HR Director will partner closely with the business leaders to deliver against their strategic initiatives, drive necessary change management initiatives to deliver performance, to help build strong and effective talent management solutions so people can reach their full potential and deliver programs so that Celanese can meet and exceed its operational and financial commitments to all stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will possess a background in human resources and be a dynamic innovative leader with functional knowledge in business. S/he will ideally have extensive HR business partner experience in high growth global environments. The individual should have significant experience in coaching executives, leading and developing a team, developing best in class HR practices and leading organizations through change, talent management and culture transformation.

Responsibilities, not inclusive:
  • Serve as strategic HR partner to approximately six senior leaders
  • Partner and lead executives in broad organizational design and talent management decisions
  • Change management initiatives, compensation design and changes in partnership with Centers of Excellence, help to change the culture to align with the strategic direction of the company attracting, development and retention of executives in Corporate Functions

    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    • Responsible for oversight of HR staff (~4 direct reports) and overall delivery of HR support
    • Demonstrate a leadership style that motivates and inspires, embodies the values that attracts top/diverse talent and develops employees to their desired potential
    • Promotes respectfulness and is viewed as credible by others


    Qualifications:
    Required Education, Experience and Skills
    • Broad knowledge and experience including, but not limited to, global HR practices, employment law, compensation, talent management, change management, employee relations and recruitment
    • Experience working in a growing, dynamic corporate environment with a pay for performance culture over the past 15+ years
    • Ability to analyze complex policy issues, draw correct conclusions and articulate clear and focused solutions
    • Successful track record of driving HR initiatives through business needs
    • Excellent communications and operating instincts (both domestic and international), good strategic skills, sound business judgment, and the ability to achieve company goals by leveraging HR expertise
    • Strong business acumen, intelligence and creativity
    • A willingness to travel periodically
    • Ability to operate with a sense of urgency, with proven ability to work across diverse lines of business
    • Desire to be an outstanding team player with multi-cultural understanding
    • Strong communication and leadership skills
    • Education credentials should include an undergraduate degree, preferred advanced degree, such as an MBA
    • Is resilient; remains calm under stress
    • Must exhibit high level of confidentiality and professionalism
    • Has high integrity


    2012 Objectives / Goals
    • Lead the organization design and execution process for the staff functions that aligns activity and results for growth strategies
    • Evaluate talent across all corporate staffs and determine talent/skill gaps and develop plan to address. Partner with Talent Management to develop and Staffing to acquire skills
    • Develop and manage new HR team
    • Support productivity, capacity and safety improvements with leadership in all locations
    • Work directly with fuels CLT (Client Leadership Team) to improve team performance, dynamics and processes.
    • Build the capability and engagement of the workforce
    • Ensure positive employee relations strategies are in place and being executed at each site with low rates of legal issues
    • Execute on enterprise processes such as TIP (Talent Identification Process) and pay planning to drive the appropriate individual and organization outcomes
    • Develop and retain high potential and promotable employees
    • May change as business needs/change, requirements change
