Calgary, Alberta (February 7, 2018) - Cenovus Energy Inc. is deeply saddened to report that there has been a fatality at the company's Christina Lake oil sands site, which is located about 350 kilometres northeast of Edmonton. At approximately 10:20 pm last night, an incident involving a hauling truck occurred as a drilling rig was being moved at site. The incident resulted in the death of a worker employed by one of Cenovus's third-party contracting companies. The name of the worker is not being released publicly at this time. We extend our deepest sympathies to the worker's family, friends and co-workers.

Cenovus has notified the appropriate authorities and will conduct a full investigation into the cause of the incident.
