MINNEAPOLIS - July 24, 2015 - CenterPoint Energy invites the public to the Stone Arch Bridge on Saturday at 2 p.m. for The Salvation Army's MOST Amazing Race, which benefits their Hunger and Homelessness programs in the Twin Cities. CenterPoint Energy, for the second consecutive year, is the presenting sponsor of The MOST Amazing Race, which is an official event of the 76th Annual Minneapolis Aquatennial.

"We're excited to once again be sponsoring this year's MOST Amazing Race in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the race," said Joe Vortherms, vice president of Gas Operations for CenterPoint Energy. "CenterPoint Energy has a long history of partnering with The Salvation Army and we are proud that through our sponsorship and volunteer efforts we can make a difference in support of The Salvation Army's hunger and housing programs."

The MOST Amazing Race is modeled after the TV show, with up to 30 teams racing around Minneapolis performing mental and physical challenges. Teams of two must raise a minimum of $200 to participate in a qualifying event held the morning of the race and up to 10 teams can skip the qualifier by being a top fundraiser. The first team to the finish line wins $5,000. The money raised benefits The Salvation Army's Hunger and Homelessness programs in the Twin Cities. More than $550,000 has been raised since the event started in 2006.

CenterPoint Energy continues to maintain a long-standing focus on education, conservation, community development, volunteer outreach, environment and safety. To see what CenterPoint Energy is doing in the community, visit CenterPoint Energy.com/Community.
