KANSAS CITY, Mo., Feb. 02, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cerner, a global leader in health care technology, will showcase its focus on the person at the center of health care through its broad range of services and solutions across the care continuum, in Booth 2161 at HIMSS17, Feb. 19–23, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

Cerner will also debut two thought leadership mediums at HIMSS17. Perspectives, a printed publication and digital download, and The Cerner Podcast, an ongoing series of streaming audio conversations, will feature insights from industry experts and influencers focused on key themes impacting health care today and in the future.

Beginning with HIMSS17, issues and episodes of Perspectives and The Cerner Podcast will be available through the Cerner website and blog, respectively. The Cerner YouTube channel will also feature select video versions of The Cerner Podcast. The first issue of Perspectives will focus on health reform, with contributions from:

  • Paul Keckley, Independent health care policy expert
  • Dr. Robert Groves of Banner Health and the Banner Health Network
  • Dr. Sue Wells and David Allison of Wirral University Teaching Hospital, UK

  • Dr. Doug Fridsma and Jeff Smith of the American Medical Informatics Association

Inside Cerner’s Booth
Attendees can follow a hypothetical patient’s health care journey across the continuum to learn first-hand how Cerner solutions and services keep the person at the center of care while supporting an organization’s clinical, financial and operational needs.

“Patients are increasingly becoming more active participants in their own health care and health care organizations are continually seeking new ways to engage with their patients,” said Zane Burke, president, Cerner. “It’s this approach that drives our vision for the future as we remain focused on advancing technology that is capable of supporting care coordination beyond the acute and ambulatory setting.”

Demonstrations will showcase the value and benefits for members of the health care team and its patients in the following workflow zones: consumer, population health, interoperability, ambulatory, acute care, continuum of care, financial management, government and services.

Cerner will feature HealtheIntentSM, its population health management platform, a system-agnostic, near real-time platform that aggregates and normalizes data from multiple, disparate sources, which establishes a longitudinal record for each person within a population.

“The era of digitization is mostly complete, and we have a responsibility to our clients and their patients to deliver a return on their investment beyond automation,” said Burke. "Cerner has the largest reported R&D investment in the industry. We’ve focused that investment around improving our solutions to drive actionable insights that improve outcomes and reduce costs.”
