Brazil Prosecutor To Expand Offshore Oil Spill Probe -Reuters

A Brazilian federal prosecutor intends to widen his investigation of a November offshore oil spill in a field run by Chevron Corp. (>> Chevron Corporation) to areas operated by other companies in the country's main oil region, Reuters reported Friday.
Eduardo Santos de Oliveira, federal prosecutor for Campos, Brazil, wants the probe to explore geological conditions and operational practices in the Campos Basin to help prevent future accidents, according to Reuters.
Companies operating in the area include Petroleo Brasileiro SA (PBR), Royal Dutch Shell PLC (RDSA), OGX Petroleo e Gas Participacoes (OGXPY), Repsol YPF SA (>> Repsol YPF SA), Maersk Oil and BP PLC (BP), Reuters reported.
